Launch Details

Recap

In June last year we launched the all new SmartGym. It was a huge update, packed with lots of new features.

Then, in September we added even more amazing new features focused on iOS 17 and watchOS 10. Like the all new interactive Dynamic Island and Live Activities, Interactive Widgets, and most importantly, the biggest update we’ve ever done to our Apple Watch app, with an all new design.

In October we added even more amazing new features, like Heart Rate Zones, Advanced Logging and more.

In November Apple awarded us as 2023 Apple Watch App of the Year, which was amazing and a dream come true.

So, what's next?

Well, turns out, a lot! :) We've been working on a huge update with lots of new features and improved experiences. As we always say, we never settle at SmartGym.

Equipment Lists

This is one of the most requested feature we've had. The ability to have multiple equipment lists. Well, now you can. :)

Users can have up to 5 different equipment lists and use them throughout the app. This is great for users that work out on multiple locations.

Personalize Weights

Users will also have the option to specify the weights they have available, in addition to selecting equipment. Smart Trainer will use this information to offer better recommendations and to work around what the user has available.

Alternative Exercises

Sometimes, the machine or equipment we want to use may be occupied, and we don’t have time to wait around. We might skip that exercise and plan to come back to it later, only to find it still unavailable. Or maybe something else happens that prevent us from doing a specific exercise on a particular day. While we could update the entire routine and replace the exercise, it might not be the ideal solution, since it will change every workout moving forward.

To address this, we’re introducing the option to log alternative exercises. This feature will only apply to the current workout, leaving the original exercise intact for future sessions. And to streamline the process, Smart Trainer will automatically suggest the most similar exercises, eliminating the need to scroll through the entire list.

Since most SmartGym users work out with an Apple Watch, they can also do this from the Apple Watch app. Additionally, users can also change the equipment list straight from the Watch app. This feature also works completely offline, so it doesn’t matter if you have an active internet connection or not.

Heart Rate Zones

As we've mentioned in the recap, last year we've introduced support for Heart Rate Zones, and our users absolutely loved it. We’re thrilled to announce that we’re now integrating Heart Rate Zones into our Monthly Summary and Routine Progress.

This addition allows you to view your overall heart rate zones for a specific month or routine, expanding the range of metrics users can track.

Heart Rate Zones from over 525 minutes of exercise with different routines.

All New Summary Screen

Our users have consistently requested a more condensed screen for easy sharing on social media after completing a workout.

So, we’ve completely redesigned the Summary Screen on the Apple Watch app. It’s not just functional; it’s beautiful. You’ll find all the necessary information at a glance, eliminating the need to scroll. Plus, you can now easily see which muscles you’ve targeted.

And if you crave even more insights, simply scroll down to check out the gorgeous heart rate chart or your heart rate zones.

Vs Previous

This is super cool. It's super simple, yet super powerful. When working out, SmartGym will show the "Vs Previous" button. Users can select the metric they want to compare this exercise to the last time they did it. And in real time. As they log or change their sets, this gets updated. This is great for users that always want to improve on what they previously did.

So Much More

There are so many more features, like sharing a Smart Trainer workout with your friend, better Smart Trainer suggestions, improved drop sets, and so much more.
